• Cracked X Pro display. The X Pro's 3:2 touch panel is a bonded assembly, which means the glass and the display are replaced together. That puts it at the top of the screen range. It is worth confirming the panel itself has failed and not just the glass before anyone quotes you.
• Battery no longer holding. The commonest MateBook job by a distance, and most often on a D14 or D15 that is three or four years old. Windows will show you the remaining capacity in a couple of minutes, before you spend anything.
• Pop-up camera key stopped working. Several MateBook models hide the webcam under a key in the keyboard row. When it stops popping up, the fault is mechanical and sits inside the keyboard assembly, so it is worth mentioning if you are also having key trouble — the two jobs overlap.
• Will not charge. MateBooks charge over USB-C, soldered to the board. Test the charger and cable on another device first. If the adapter is fine, this is board-level work.
• Screen dark, machine running. Backlight or display cable rather than the panel. A torch against the screen usually shows a faint image if the panel itself is alive.
• Hinge stiff or lifting the bezel. Catch this early. Once a hinge starts levering the bezel off the lid, the panel is next, and a hinge job becomes a screen job.
