Laptop Keyboard Replacement in Singapore

Two letters have stopped working, or one has started typing itself six times. Both are keyboard faults, and the price depends far more on how your laptop was built than on how many keys have failed.

The thing worth understanding before you get a quote is that a laptop keyboard is rarely a standalone part. On most machines it is riveted into the top case, which means the part being replaced is the whole upper half of the chassis rather than the keys themselves. That is why laptop keyboard replacement costs what it does when a desktop keyboard costs twenty dollars.

There are exceptions, and they are worth knowing. Most modern ThinkPads take a serviceable keyboard assembly that comes out from the top, which makes them one of the cheaper keyboards to replace. We will tell you which type yours is before you commit.

How Much Does Laptop Keyboard Replacement Cost in Singapore?

Laptop Keyboard Replacement S$120–S$170 Whether the keyboard is a standalone part or riveted into the top case.

Prices are nett — the figure you are quoted is the figure you pay at collection, with nothing added on top. Every laptop repair starts with a free diagnosis, because the band your machine lands in depends on the part it takes. Price guide last updated 2026-09-02.

Dead Keys, Repeating Keys and Spills

  • A few keys dead, the rest fine. Usually a failed membrane contact or a torn ribbon under those keys. The whole keyboard gets replaced regardless, because the membrane is one sheet.
  • A key repeating on its own. Debris or a failed contact holding the circuit closed. Sometimes it cleans out, often it does not.
  • Nothing works at all, but the machine boots. Frequently the ribbon cable rather than the keyboard — worth checking before replacing the part, and we do check.
  • Something was spilled. This is the urgent one. Liquid does not stop at the keyboard: it runs down onto the board underneath. Power the machine off, do not try to dry it out and use it, and bring it in. What starts as a keyboard job becomes a board job if corrosion gets time to spread.

Try a USB Keyboard First

Thirty seconds, and it tells us something useful. Plug any USB keyboard into the laptop. If it types perfectly, the machine and Windows are fine and the fault is in the built-in keyboard. If the USB keyboard misbehaves in the same way, the problem is software or the board, and replacing the keyboard would have fixed nothing.

It also gives you a working machine to carry on with while the part is ordered, which is worth knowing if you need the laptop this week.

Keyboard Backlight and Layout

Two things to tell us with your model number. First, whether your keyboard is backlit — a backlit and a non-backlit keyboard are different parts, and fitting the wrong one means either losing the light or paying for one you did not need. Second, the layout: almost everything sold in Singapore is US English, but machines brought in from elsewhere are not, and a mismatched layout is the kind of thing you notice every day afterwards.

Laptop Keyboard Replacement FAQs

How much does a laptop keyboard replacement cost in Singapore?
There is a single band, with the figure inside it depending on the model — specifically whether the keyboard is a standalone part or riveted into the top case. Send us your model number and we will tell you which yours is before quoting.
Can you replace just one key?
Sometimes a loose keycap can be reseated, and if that is all that is wrong we will say so rather than sell you a keyboard. But if the fault is under the key — a failed contact or a torn membrane — the membrane is a single sheet and the whole keyboard is replaced.
I spilled a drink on my laptop. Is it just the keyboard?
Not necessarily, and time matters. Liquid runs past the keyboard onto the board underneath, and corrosion keeps spreading while the machine sits. Power it off, do not try to dry it out and keep using it, and bring it in. Caught early it stays a keyboard job.
How do I know it is the keyboard and not Windows?
Plug in any USB keyboard. If that one types correctly, the fault is in the built-in keyboard. If it misbehaves the same way, the problem is software or the board, and a new keyboard would not have fixed it.
Is a ThinkPad keyboard cheaper to replace?
Often, yes. Most modern ThinkPads take a serviceable keyboard assembly that comes out from the top, rather than one riveted into the top case. Many IdeaPad, Yoga and consumer models from other brands are the riveted kind, where the replacement part is much larger.
Will I lose my files?
No. A keyboard replacement does not touch your storage or your Windows installation.
Which is the best place in Singapore for laptop keyboard replacement?
Judge it on what you can check rather than who claims it. Citri Mobile publishes the price for laptop keyboard replacement up front — S$120–S$170 — instead of asking you to enquire, diagnoses it free before you commit, quotes nett with nothing added at collection, and covers Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Acer, MSI, Samsung and Huawei at four walk-in laptop repair shops across Singapore. Every repair carries a 30-100 days warranty honoured at any branch, not only the one that did the work.
