Common Acer Faults, and What They Usually Turn Out to Be

• Aspire hinges splitting the lid. Same failure family as the other budget-chassis brands, and just as common. The hinge is anchored in plastic, the plastic cracks, and the bezel starts lifting away from the lid a little more each time you open it. Bring it in while it is still only stiff.
• Cracked Chromebook screens. We see a steady run of these from students. The good news is that Chromebook panels are among the cheaper laptop screens, and the repair is usually well worth doing rather than replacing the machine.
• Nitro and Predator thermal throttling. Games that ran fine last year now stutter after ten minutes and the fans never stop. Dust packed into the fin stack and thermal paste that has dried out. A clean and repaste is the fix, and it is far cheaper than the new machine people assume they need.
• Charging only at one angle. Aspire and Nitro mostly use a barrel jack, which wears before anything else on the machine. Swift and Spin charge over USB-C, which is soldered and goes the board-level route. Test the charger elsewhere first.
• Battery gone flat in under an hour. Normal wear after three or four years. Run the battery report before you spend anything — it tells you exactly how much capacity is left.
• Spin hinge no longer holding an angle. Convertible hinges do double the work of a normal one. A lid that flops or sticks is the hinge, not the screen, and it is the cheaper of the two to catch early.

Acer runs no parts programme for independent repairers in Singapore, so what we fit is Original Grade or a quality equivalent, and we name the grade in the quote before you agree to anything. Anyone promising you factory parts for an out-of-warranty Acer is telling you a story. If your machine is still inside its Acer warranty and the fault appeared on its own — nothing dropped, nothing spilled — take it to Acer Singapore support first. That repair may cost you nothing, and we would rather tell you than take the job. Accidental damage, liquid and a battery worn out after three or four years are not covered by any manufacturer warranty at any age. That is the gap we fill.
