Most phones that reach our counter fall outside that window. A cracked screen isn't covered by any manufacturer warranty at any age, and neither is liquid damage. A battery that has faded after three years of daily charging is wear rather than a defect, so it rarely qualifies either. That's the gap an independent shop fills: walk in with no appointment, get a free diagnosis and a nett quote on the spot, and collect the phone the same visit for most jobs when we have your part. How Do I Find My vivo Model Before a Repair?

Parts are ordered against the exact model, and vivo's naming makes this trickier than most. A V29, a V29e and a V29 Pro are three different phones with three different screens, and the difference isn't printed anywhere on the outside.

Open Settings, then About phone. The model name and model number are both listed there. If the phone won't turn on, the model number is printed in small type on the SIM tray or under the back cover on older handsets, and it's on the box if you still have it. Sending us that number rather than "a vivo V29" is the difference between a quote you can rely on and a guess. How Do I Know If My vivo Needs a Battery Replacement?

Android doesn't expose battery health as plainly as some phones do, but there are three signs that are reliable on their own.

First, the shape of the discharge. A healthy battery falls steadily. A worn one holds near the top, then drops in a rush somewhere in the middle. Second, sudden shutdowns with charge still on the meter, especially when it's cold or the phone is working hard. That's the cell no longer able to deliver current under load, and it's the clearest sign of all. Third, heat while charging that wasn't there a year ago.

On vivo you can also open the dialler and enter *#*#6485#*#* on many models to see battery health data, though vivo has changed what that code shows across software versions, so treat it as a hint rather than a verdict. If the phone is swollen, and you'll notice because the screen starts lifting at one edge or the phone rocks on a flat table, stop charging it and bring it in. That one is urgent.

Should You Repair or Replace Your vivo?

A rule that has held up well: if the repair costs less than about a third of what your phone sells for used, repair it. On a current V or X series handset a screen or battery clears that bar easily. On a five-year-old Y-series phone with a board fault, it often doesn't, and we'll say so plainly rather than take the job.
