You book an Apple battery replacement through the Apple Support app or support.apple.com, pick a Genius Bar slot or an authorised service provider, and turn up with the device backed up and Find My switched off. Apple replaces a battery when maximum capacity has fallen below 80%, or for a fee at any capacity. Most iPhone battery appointments are same-day if the part is in stock. Here is the whole process, what it costs you in time, and the cases where an independent shop is the better answer.
How do I book an Apple battery replacement appointment?
Three routes, and they end up in the same queue.
- The Apple Support app. Pick the device, choose Battery & Charging, then Bring in for Repair. It shows Apple Stores and authorised service providers with their next available slots. This is the fastest route and the one that shows you the most options.
- support.apple.com in a browser. Same flow, same slots, no app needed. Sign in with the Apple Account the device is on.
- Calling Apple Support. Works, takes longer, and ends with a booking you could have made yourself in two minutes.
Apple runs its own stores in Singapore and also works through authorised service providers. Check Apple's Singapore repair page for the current list, because both the locations and the slots change.
One note on timing. Battery appointments are usually easier to get than screen or board appointments, but they go quickly at weekends and in the week after a new iPhone launch. If the app shows nothing for days, check again early the next morning, when cancellations are released.
What happens on the day?
Roughly this, in this order.
- They run a diagnostic. This reads battery health, cycle count and whether anything else in the device is flagged. It takes a few minutes and it is how they confirm what you came in for.
- They check Find My is off. They will not start work with it on, and turning it off needs your Apple Account password, so know it before you go.
- They check the repair history. If the device has had a non-Apple battery or screen fitted previously, that can change what they are willing to do. It is worth mentioning up front rather than being told at the counter.
- You get a price and a time. Battery service under AppleCare+ or an in-warranty failure is covered. Otherwise it is Apple's published out-of-warranty battery fee for your model.
- They keep the device, or you wait. Same-day is normal for a stocked iPhone battery. iPad and Mac usually go away for a few days, and sometimes offshore.
What should I do before an Apple battery appointment?
Four things, and skipping any of them is the usual reason people get sent home.
- Back up. iCloud or a computer. Battery work does not touch your data, but any device that opens up should be backed up first, and Apple will ask.
- Turn off Find My. Settings, your name, Find My, Find My iPhone, off. You need your Apple Account password.
- Know your Apple Account password. Not the passcode. This is the one people forget, and without it the appointment stops.
- Bring proof of purchase if the device is in warranty, and ID.
Also take a note of your current battery health figure from Settings, Battery, Battery Health & Charging before you go. Useful to have in your own hands.
When will Apple replace the battery for free?
Three situations.
The device is in warranty and the battery has failed. Not worn, failed. Apple's standard warranty covers a battery that has dropped below 80% capacity within the warranty period, which is treated as a defect rather than normal wear.
You have AppleCare+ and capacity is below 80%. Battery service is included, with no excess. If you are paying for AppleCare+, this is the single clearest thing it buys you.
The model is in a service programme. Apple occasionally runs these on specific batches. Check your serial number on Apple's site before you pay anybody, ourselves included.
Above 80% with no AppleCare+, you are paying Apple's out-of-warranty fee whatever the symptoms are, even if the phone is dying at 30% every afternoon.
How long does an Apple battery replacement take?
An iPhone battery at an Apple Store is usually the same day, often a couple of hours, when the part is in stock for your model. Older models are the ones that go away, because stock thins out as a model ages.
iPad and Mac are different. Both usually leave the store, and Apple's iPad battery service is a whole-unit exchange rather than a battery swap on many models, which means you get a different iPad back. If there is anything on it that is not backed up, that matters.
When does an independent shop make more sense?
Four cases, and we would rather set them out plainly than pretend Apple is never the answer.
- The device is old. Once a model passes Apple's vintage line, official battery service stops. We still carry cells for iPhones several generations past that point.
- You want it done today, near where you are. No appointment queue. Most iPhone batteries are done while you wait, about 30 to 60 minutes.
- You want to keep the device rather than exchange it. This matters most on iPad, where Apple's route can mean a replacement unit.
- Price. An Original Grade iPhone battery with us starts from $25, nett. A genuine Apple battery, fitted for eligible iPhone repairs under the Apple Independent Repair Provider programme, starts from $110. Both are quoted before we start.
And the case where Apple is clearly right: you have AppleCare+, or the device is in warranty. Then it is free there and it is not free here, and we will say so at the counter.
What does a battery replacement cost in Singapore?
Real catalog figures, nett, so the quote after a free diagnosis is what you pay at collection.
| Device | Battery replacement from |
|---|---|
| iPhone, Original Grade | $25 |
| iPhone, genuine Apple battery under the Apple IRP programme | $110 |
| iPad | $35 |
| Apple Watch | $50 |
| MacBook | $85 |
Apple publishes its own out-of-warranty battery fees per model on its service pages. Worth putting the two side by side before you book anything.
Does a third-party battery affect my Apple warranty?
Not the whole device, no. Under Singapore consumer law and Apple's own position, a repair by someone else does not void coverage on parts unrelated to the repair. What it does do is take the battery itself outside Apple's cover, and an iPhone with a non-Apple battery shows a service message in Settings.
That message is informational. The phone works normally and battery health still reports. But it is a real difference, so we tell people about it before fitting rather than after, and if you would rather have the genuine Apple part, that is what the IRP route is for. The third-party repair and Apple warranty guide goes through this properly.
Apple battery appointment FAQs
- How do I book an Apple battery replacement in Singapore?
- Through the Apple Support app or support.apple.com. Choose the device, Battery & Charging, then Bring in for Repair, and pick a Genius Bar or authorised provider slot. Back up, turn off Find My, and know your Apple Account password before you go.
- How long does an Apple battery appointment take?
- An iPhone battery is usually same-day at an Apple Store when the part is in stock, often a couple of hours. iPad and Mac normally leave the store for several days, and Apple's iPad service can be a whole-unit exchange rather than a battery swap.
- Will Apple replace my battery for free?
- Yes if the device is in warranty and the battery has failed, or if you have AppleCare+ and capacity is below 80%, or if your serial number falls into a service programme. Otherwise it is Apple's published out-of-warranty fee.
- Can I get an iPhone battery replaced without an appointment?
- Not at Apple, where it is appointment-based. At an independent shop like ours, yes, and most iPhone batteries are done while you wait in about 30 to 60 minutes. Message or call first so we can confirm your cell is in stock.
- What does Apple do if my iPhone has had a non-Apple part fitted?
- They may decline that specific repair or charge differently for it. It does not void warranty on unrelated parts. Mention the history when you book rather than discovering it at the counter.
- Is a third-party iPhone battery as good as an Apple one?
- An Original Grade cell matches the original on capacity and protection circuitry and is what most people take. The genuine Apple part is available for eligible iPhone repairs under the Apple Independent Repair Provider programme, at a higher price. We will quote both and let you choose.
- What warranty do I get on a battery replacement at Citri Mobile?
- A warranty of up to 100 days depending on the repair, honoured at any of our four shops rather than only the one that did the work.
If you would rather not wait for a slot
Four shops: People's Park Centre in Chinatown, Tampines, Yishun and Jurong Point, open 11am–9pm daily.
Message us your model on WhatsApp and we will quote before you travel. Walk-ins are fine any day, but message or call first so we can confirm we have your cell in stock. Diagnosis is free, and if your device is still under AppleCare+ we will tell you to use it rather than pay us.
