Most Apple Watch screens break the same way: a knock on a door frame or a fall onto tiles, and a crack across the face. What the repair costs depends on what's under that crack. We replace Apple Watch screens at four branches in Singapore, priced per model in the table above, and if only the glass is broken we'll tell you, because that's the cheaper repair.

Glass Only or the Full Display: Which Apple Watch Repair Do You Need?

Put on a plain white watch face, then a plain black one. If the picture under the cracks is clean, you need new glass, not a new display: Apple Watch glass replacement starts from $65. The touch layer sits with the glass, so a patch that won't respond, or a watch tapping things on its own, is the glass repair too.

You need the full display, the repair priced on this page, when the picture itself is damaged: black areas, ink-like blots that spread, coloured lines, or no picture at all while the watch still buzzes on your wrist. The gap between the two can be large. On a Series 8 45mm, new glass is $80 and a full display $240. Not sure which you have? The check at the counter is free.

Is It Worth Replacing an Apple Watch Screen?

On a Series 6 or later, an SE 2 or an Ultra, yes. A screen costs a fraction of a new watch, and these are recent enough to be worth keeping. On a Series 4 or 5 it depends on the fault: new glass is an easy yes, a full display less so if the battery is tired as well. On a Series 3 or older, usually not, because those watches stopped getting watchOS updates years ago. We'll tell you that before you pay, not after.

If your watch has AppleCare+, use it, because the accidental damage fee there usually costs less than an independent repair. Apple publishes its out-of-warranty fees on its Apple Watch service page.

Why Did My Apple Watch Screen Come Off Without Cracking?

Because the battery behind it has swollen. A failing cell puffs up and pushes the display out of the case, starting with a gap at one edge. That's not a screen fault, and a new screen won't stay put on top of a swollen battery. It needs an Apple Watch battery replacement, from $50. Take it off the charger and bring it in before the display cable tears, which is what turns it into a screen job as well.

How Long Does an Apple Watch Screen Replacement Take?

Most take about 60 to 120 minutes. The display is glued to a curved edge and connected by short, fragile cables, so it's warmed and lifted slowly, and the new one is sealed in with fresh adhesive and given time to bond. If we find the battery has started to swell, which is common on older watches, we'll show you before we go on, because it makes sense to change both at once. If yours will take longer, we'll tell you when we quote.

After the repair your watch is fine for everyday wear, rain and hand-washing. What we can't give back is Apple's factory water-resistance rating, and no shop outside Apple can, so if you swim with it, talk to us first.
