A cracked iPad screen costs from $40 to fix at Citri Mobile when only the glass is broken, and from $55 when the display underneath is damaged too. Prices are nett and set per model. Which repair you need comes down to two questions: is the picture under the cracks still clean, and does touch still work everywhere? On a base iPad the glass is a separate part, so a smashed screen is often the cheaper repair.
Glass or display: which does your iPad need?
An iPad screen is two layers. On top sits the glass, with the touch layer that reads your finger and Apple Pencil. Underneath is the display panel that makes the picture. Breaking the top one doesn't always break the bottom one, and the price gap between the two repairs is big enough to be worth checking.
Set a plain white wallpaper, then a plain black one, and look closely:
- Picture clean under the cracks, touch working everywhere. Glass only. The cheaper repair.
- Black patches, ink-blot spreading, coloured lines, or a part of the screen gone dark. The display panel is damaged, so it's a display replacement.
- Picture fine but a strip that won't respond, or taps happening on their own. The touch layer has failed. On a base iPad or an older iPad mini, touch lives in the glass, so it's still the glass repair. On a laminated Air, mini or Pro, it usually means the full display.
- Screen lifting away from the frame at one edge, with or without a crack. That's the battery underneath swelling. Stop charging it and bring it in. Our guide to changing an iPad battery explains why that one can't wait.
If you can't tell, that's normal, and it's what the free diagnosis is for. The cracked glass or broken screen guide has the same test in more detail.
Why some iPad screens cost more to fix than others
It's mostly about lamination. Apple builds iPads two ways.
Separate glass: the standard iPad (5th generation through 10th), the original iPad Air, and the iPad mini 1 to 3. The glass sits on top of the display with a small gap between them. A cracked screen on these is usually a straightforward glass replacement, and it's why a base iPad is the cheapest iPad to fix.
Laminated: the iPad Air 2 and later, the iPad mini 4 and later, and every iPad Pro. The glass is bonded to the display with no gap, which is why the picture looks like it's painted on the glass. It also means the two are harder to separate. We still price a glass-only repair on many laminated models, and when the panel underneath is undamaged it's the cheaper route. But it's delicate work, and whether your panel is a candidate gets decided at the diagnosis. If the display has to come out with the glass, it's priced as a full display.
Screen size matters too. A 12.9-inch Pro panel costs more than an iPad mini panel for the same reason a bigger TV does.

Across every iPad we carry, glass-only runs $40–$240 and a full Original Grade display $55–$395. On some models there's also a lower-cost Grade AAA display at $75–$320, and we'll tell you the difference before you choose. Every other model, older and newer, is priced on the iPad repair page. For the newest iPad Pro (M4 and M5) and the latest iPad Air, message us first, because those panels are quoted on the day.
Both repairs use Original Grade parts, and the grade goes on your quote before you agree to anything. If you want the price lists side by side, here are iPad glass replacement prices and iPad display replacement prices for every model.
Is it worth fixing a cracked iPad screen?
Usually, yes. A glass repair on a base iPad costs a small fraction of a new one, and the iPad goes back to how it was.
The sums get closer on two kinds of iPad. The first is a big laminated Pro that needs a full display, where the repair is a real amount of money, though still well under the cost of replacing a Pro. The second is an old base iPad that no longer gets iPadOS updates. There, a glass repair is still cheap, but you're fixing a device that's slowly losing app support. You can check in Settings, under General, then Software Update.
Our rule of thumb: if the repair is less than half what the same iPad sells for second-hand in good condition, fix it. If it's more, ask us about trade-in before you decide. We'll give you both numbers at the counter.
Can I keep using an iPad with a cracked screen?
For a while, often. But it gets worse, not better.
- Cracks spread. Every flex of the case, every drop in a bag, opens them further, and a crack that reaches the touch layer starts producing dead zones or ghost taps.
- Glass splinters. Kids' iPads are the ones we worry about. A clear screen protector over the crack is a reasonable stopgap.
- Moisture gets in. A cracked screen is no longer sealed, and Singapore humidity finds the gap.
- A display problem can follow. Pressure on cracked glass can damage the panel underneath, which turns a glass job into a display job.
What about Apple and AppleCare+?
If your iPad has AppleCare+, check with Apple first. Accidental damage is covered for a service fee, and for a Pro that will usually beat any independent price. Out of warranty, it becomes a normal comparison: Apple's service quote against ours. Our guide to fixing an iPad without going to an Apple Store covers the trade-offs.
How long does an iPad screen repair take?
Most iPad screen jobs take about 60 to 120 minutes. iPads are slower than phones because the screen is held down by adhesive along its whole edge, so it comes off with heat and patience rather than speed. A laminated glass-only job can run longer. If yours will take more time, we'll say so when we quote, before you leave it with us.
Your data isn't touched. Back it up anyway if you haven't lately, which is a good habit before any repair.
iPad screen repair FAQs
- How much does it cost to fix a cracked iPad screen in Singapore?
- At Citri Mobile, glass-only repair runs $40–$240 and a full display $55–$395, depending on the model. Prices are nett, and the exact figure for your iPad is on our iPad repair page.
- Can you replace just the glass on an iPad?
- Yes. On the standard iPad and the older iPad mini the glass is a separate part, so a crack with a clean picture underneath is a glass-only repair. On laminated models (iPad Air 2 and later, iPad mini 4 and later, every Pro) it's more delicate, and the free diagnosis decides whether your panel can take a glass-only repair.
- My iPad screen is cracked but still works. Do I need a new display?
- Probably not. If the picture is clean and touch works everywhere, the glass is the problem, and that's the cheaper repair. Get it done before the cracks spread into the touch layer or the panel.
- Why is iPad Pro screen repair more expensive?
- The Pro's glass is laminated to a larger, higher-spec panel, so both the parts and the labour cost more. A 12.9-inch Pro display is one of the most expensive iPad repairs we do, but it's still well below the price of a replacement Pro.
- Do you use Apple-made screens for iPad?
- No. iPad isn't part of Apple's Independent Repair Provider programme, so we fit Original Grade glass and displays, and Grade AAA displays on some models. We tell you which grade before you agree, and it goes on the quote.
- How long does an iPad screen replacement take?
- Most take about 60 to 120 minutes. Laminated glass-only jobs can take longer, and we'll tell you the timing when we quote.
- What warranty do I get on an iPad screen repair?
- A warranty of up to 100 days depending on the repair, honoured at any of our four shops.
