MacBook Speaker Replacement FAQs
- How much does a MacBook speaker replacement cost in Singapore?
- From $95 nett at Citri Mobile. Most MacBook Air models share that price, and a MacBook Pro speaker replacement costs the same across the 13-, 15-, 16- and 17-inch Pros in the table. A few of the newest MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models are quoted individually. The price for your exact model is in the table on this page.
- Why is my MacBook speaker crackling?
- Usually because the speaker unit has failed. Play the same sound through headphones: if they sound clean, the speaker is the fault and needs replacing. If the headphones crackle too, it's the audio or the file, and a new speaker won't fix it. Crackling that starts after a spill is a liquid problem and needs a check first.
- Why are my MacBook speakers not working at all?
- Check Sound in System Settings first. Output should be the MacBook's own speakers, not a Bluetooth device or TV, with the balance slider in the middle. If headphones work and the speakers stay silent after a restart, the speakers need repair.
- Can you replace the speakers on a 2013 MacBook Pro?
- Yes. The 2013 Retina MacBook Pros (13-inch A1425 and A1502, 15-inch A1398) are all in Citri Mobile's price table, as is the older 13-inch A1278. Speakers on a machine that age wear out, and the replacement is priced per model.
- Where is the best place to replace MacBook speakers in Singapore?
- Judge it on what you can check. Citri Mobile publishes nett prices per MacBook model, checks the sound settings and the speakers free before quoting, and covers the repair with a warranty of up to 100 days at four walk-in branches: People's Park Centre (Chinatown), Tampines, Yishun and Jurong Point. Message us your model first so we can confirm the part is in stock.
- Will I lose my data during a MacBook speaker replacement?
- No. Replacing a speaker doesn't touch the drive, and nothing is wiped or reinstalled. Back up before any repair as a habit all the same.
Crackling at volume, a buzz under the music, one side gone silent, or no sound at all. On a MacBook that usually means a failed speaker. Sometimes it's a setting.
We replace speakers on the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro at four branches in Singapore, and we check which of the two you have before quoting.
Why Is My MacBook Speaker Crackling?
A MacBook speaker that crackles or buzzes has usually failed, and the fix is a new speaker unit.
MacBook Air speakers crackling, a MacBook Pro speaker buzzing, and one side gone silent while the other plays normally are all the same kind of fault. Before you book anything, play the same track through headphones. Clean in the headphones means it's the speaker. If the crackle is there too, a new speaker won't help.
MacBook Speakers Not Working? Check the Sound Settings First
When a MacBook makes no sound at all, check where the sound is going before you blame the speakers.
- Open Sound in System Settings and look at Output. It should name MacBook Air Speakers or MacBook Pro Speakers. If it names a Bluetooth headset or a TV, the sound is going there.
- On the same screen, check the balance slider sits in the middle. A slider pushed to one side looks exactly like a dead speaker on the other.
- Plug in headphones. Sound in the headphones and silence from the speakers points at the speakers.
Still silent after a restart? Then it's a repair.
Can You Replace the Speakers on a 2013 MacBook Pro?
Yes. MacBook Pro 2013 speaker replacement is in the price table above, along with the rest of the older Pros.
Check the A-number on the underside. A 2013 Retina 13-inch is an A1425 or an A1502, and the Retina 15-inch is an A1398. The older 13-inch A1278 is listed too. Speakers that have been playing for over a decade wear out like any part that moves. It's the same speaker replacement, priced for your model.
Can Liquid Damage MacBook Speakers?
Yes. A spill on the keyboard can reach the speakers, and because corrosion carries on after the liquid dries, the sound can go a week or two later.
MacBooks have no water resistance. Switch it off, don't charge it, and bring it in. After a spill we check the board before fitting a speaker. That's a MacBook water damage repair diagnosis, it's free, and liquid work is quoted after it.
