iPhone Charging Port Replacement in Singapore

The cable only works held at an angle. The phone says it's charging and the percentage doesn't move. Or nothing happens at all. We replace iPhone charging ports at four walk-in branches, priced per model and nett, after a free check that confirms the port really is the fault.

Because a lot of the time it isn't. Lint packed into the bottom of the port, a worn cable, a tired battery and iOS holding the charge on purpose all look like a broken port from the outside. The checks below take a few minutes and cost nothing, and they might save you the trip.

Why Is My iPhone Not Charging When It's Plugged In?

Usually it's the cable or adapter, a port packed with lint, a worn battery, or iOS pausing the charge deliberately. Change one thing at a time, in this order.

1. Try a different cable and a different adapter. Both, one at a time, and use ones you know work on another phone. Cheap cables fray inside long before they look damaged, and an "Accessory may not be supported" message usually points at the cable.
2. Look into the port with a torch. Pocket lint gets pressed into the bottom of the port every time you plug in, until the plug goes in but no longer reaches the contacts. Don't dig at it with anything metal. If you can see grey fluff, that may be the whole problem.
3. Try a wireless charger. Every iPhone from the 8 onwards charges wirelessly. If it charges on a pad or a MagSafe puck but not on the cable, the port is the prime suspect.
4. Check the battery settings. Optimised Battery Charging holds the charge at 80% overnight and finishes later, and the iPhone 15 and newer can be set to stop at 80% every time. Both look like a phone that won't charge past a point, and neither needs a repair.
5. Watch for a Liquid Detected alert. If iOS warns about liquid in the connector, unplug, let it dry out properly, and don't force a charge through it.

Is It the Charging Port or the Battery?

The two faults leave different signs, and the wireless test above is the quickest way to separate them.

• Points at the port: charges only at an angle, the plug feels loose or won't click in, charging cuts in and out when you touch the cable, or wireless charging works while the cable doesn't.
• Points at the battery: it charges fine but drains fast, shuts down with 20 or 30% left, Battery Health reads 80% or lower, or it dies within minutes of unplugging.
• Points past both: no charge on cable or wireless with known-good chargers, especially after a drop or a spill. That's often the charging circuit on the board.

Lightning or USB-C: Which Port Does Your iPhone Have?

Every iPhone from the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 14, including the iPhone SE models, uses Lightning. The iPhone 15 and everything after it, including the iPhone 16e, the iPhone Air and the iPhone 17 range, uses USB-C.

It matters for one thing you can check at home. A USB-C port has a thin tongue running down the middle, and it can bend or snap if a plug goes in at an angle or the phone is dropped while charging. Shine a torch in: if that centre strip looks bent or is missing, the port needs replacing and no cable will fix it. A Lightning port has no tongue, so its usual failures are lint, worn contacts and corrosion.

What Else Is Connected to the iPhone Charging Port?

On most iPhones the charging port isn't a single part. It sits on a flex cable that also carries the microphones at the bottom of the phone. That's why a phone that has been dropped in water can come in with two complaints at once, no charging and callers saying you sound muffled, and why one replacement often fixes both.

Liquid is the other reason a port fails. Sweat, rain and splashes leave residue that keeps corroding the contacts after the phone has dried, so a port can stop working a week or two after the spill. And sometimes a new port changes nothing, because the fault is the charging chip on the logic board. How Long Does an iPhone Charging Port Replacement Take?

Most are done while you wait, usually somewhere between 45 and 90 minutes once we start. If yours needs longer, say there's corrosion to clean off first or the phone has been opened before, we'll tell you before we begin rather than after.

Is It Worth Replacing an iPhone Charging Port?

Almost always. A charging port is one of the cheaper iPhone repairs, and the alternative is a phone you can only charge on a wireless pad, with no wired CarPlay, no cable backups to a computer and slow charging on a long day.

If the battery is also worn, do both at the same visit: the phone is only opened once and you leave with a phone that charges properly and holds it. If the phone has several faults and is getting old, we'll tell you honestly when a trade-in makes more sense than a repair.
