An iPhone camera that shows a black screen, blurry photos or a shaking image is fixable, and often cheaply. Rule out software first: close the app, restart, update iOS. If the fault stays, a rear camera replacement in Singapore runs $30–$105 nett at Citri Mobile, a front camera $25–$90, and cracked lens glass $20–$40.

What should I try before paying for a camera repair?

A surprising share of "broken" cameras are software. Five minutes of checks first:

  1. Close the Camera app properly and reopen it. Swipe it away from the app switcher. A frozen camera session survives normal app-switching.
  2. Restart the phone. The camera pipeline is shared across apps; a restart resets it.
  3. Update iOS. Camera bugs get patched regularly. Settings > General > Software Update.
  4. Test both cameras in different apps. Try the front and rear cameras in Camera, then in WhatsApp or Instagram. One app failing while others work means an app problem, not a hardware one.
  5. Look at the lens. Wipe it. Check for cracks, dents in the camera ring, or fog under the glass. Fog means moisture got in; that changes the diagnosis (see below).

If the camera is dead in every app, on the latest iOS, after a restart, it's hardware. On to what it costs.

What do the different camera symptoms mean?

  • Black screen in the Camera app. The module isn't responding: a failed camera, a loose connector after a drop, or occasionally a board fault. If it's black for the rear camera but fine for the front (or vice versa), the dead module is the culprit.
  • Blurry photos that never focus. The autofocus mechanism is damaged, or the lens glass above it is scratched or cracked. If close-ups are blurry but far shots are fine, focus is the suspect.
  • Shaking, buzzing or vibrating image. The optical image stabilisation (OIS) has failed, almost always after a drop. The camera literally can't hold its lens steady, and it often buzzes audibly while trying.
  • Black spots or specks in every photo. Dust or debris under the lens glass, sitting on the sensor. The specks stay in the same place in every shot.
  • Foggy or hazy photos. Moisture under the lens glass. If the phone was recently near water, treat it as water damage first; our guide to the first 30 minutes after iPhone water damage explains why speed matters.
  • Flash not working. Test the torch. If the torch works but the flash doesn't, it's usually software or the camera module; if neither works, the flash hardware itself.

How much does iPhone camera repair cost in Singapore?

At Citri Mobile, prices nett with Original Grade parts, model-by-model:

  • Rear camera replacement: $30–$105 on the iPhone rear camera service page. Fixes black screens, failed focus and shaking OIS.
  • Front camera replacement: $25–$90 on the iPhone front camera service page. One caution here: on Face ID iPhones the front camera sits beside the TrueDepth system, so we test Face ID before and after the repair and tell you exactly where you stand.
  • Camera lens glass replacement: $20–$40 on the iPhone camera lens service page. The right fix when the camera works but the glass over it is cracked; replace it early, before debris and moisture reach the sensor.

If the camera failure came with a hard fall and other symptoms (no image on screen, restarts, no power), the connector or board may be involved; that's diagnosed free and quoted before any work. The full price landscape across every iPhone repair is in the iPhone repair cost & options guide.

Is it worth repairing the camera, or should I live with it?

Depends which camera and which phone. A $20–$40 lens glass swap on any iPhone is nearly always worth it, because a cracked lens ruins every photo and lets dirt reach a camera that's still healthy. A rear camera replacement makes obvious sense on a recent model you'll keep for years. On an older iPhone already showing battery or screen wear, weigh the total: sometimes camera plus battery together still beats a new phone by a wide margin, and sometimes it's trade-in time. We'll give you the honest maths at the counter, and you can sanity-check the numbers against our guide on whether an old iPhone is worth repairing.

Camera died along with everything else?

If the camera stopped working at the same time as the screen, Face ID or the phone itself, you're not looking at a camera problem. A knocked connector or board fault can take several systems down at once. Start with the iPhone won't turn on checklist if the phone is unresponsive, and bring it in for a free diagnosis if it's limping.

iPhone camera repair: FAQs

Why is my iPhone camera showing a black screen?

Either the camera module has failed or its connector was knocked loose, usually after a drop. First force-close the Camera app, restart and update iOS. If it stays black in every app, the module needs replacement, $30–$105 nett at Citri Mobile depending on model.

Why does my iPhone camera shake and make a buzzing noise?

That's failed optical image stabilisation. The stabilising mechanism inside the rear camera is damaged, almost always from an impact, and the fix is a rear camera replacement. It won't heal on its own.

How much does it cost to fix an iPhone camera in Singapore?

At Citri Mobile: rear camera $30–$105, front camera $25–$90, cracked lens glass $20–$40, all nett with Original Grade parts. Board-level faults are quoted after a free diagnosis.

Will replacing the front camera break Face ID?

The front camera sits next to the TrueDepth system Face ID depends on, so it needs careful handling. We test Face ID before and after the repair and tell you the outcome upfront; if the TrueDepth module itself is damaged, we'll say so before you spend anything.

Can I replace just the camera glass instead of the whole camera?

Yes, if the camera still works and only the glass over it is cracked. Lens glass replacement is $20–$40 nett and protects the camera behind it. Wait too long and debris or moisture can damage the module, turning a small repair into a bigger one.

Does a camera repair erase my photos?

No. Camera repairs don't touch your storage; photos, videos and everything else stay on the phone.
